Osbit Power scoops prestigious business award

Subsea engineering and technology company Osbit Power has secured a major award win, topping off a year of extensive order growth and workforce expansion.

The company has been named Large Business of the Year at the Northumberland Business Awards 2014, which saw companies from across the region battling it out for prizes in 12 categories.

Osbit Power’s Managing Director Dr Tony Trapp, said:

“Northumberland is a fantastic location and for OP to be named as the best large business in the county is an honour that we are particularly proud of. I am also delighted that the dedication and commitment of the OP team has been recognised in such a way.

“The company has grown massively in the past four years since it was set up, demonstrating its capability through successfully delivering large-scale projects across the globe.

“We are now seeing the fruits of the team’s hard work, with our success in 2013/14 surpassing all growth expectations. Turnover in 2012/13 was £1.4m and in the company year ending 30 September 2014 is now £8m, a growth of 450%.

Winning this award marks a great end to what has been OP’s best year yet – with much more to come in 2015.”

Councillor Dave Ledger, deputy leader of Northumberland County Council and group chair of Arch, the event’s main sponsor, said:

“It was a magnificent result for Osbit Power and I was delighted to see so many larger companies represented at the awards.

Arch is delighted to help in recognising the achievements of outstanding local companies like OP, whose valuable work significantly contributes to the local economy.”
