Osbit inspires future North East engineers at Port of Blyth STEMtastic event

Inspiring the next generation of North East engineers was the order of the day for the team at Osbit as we partnered with Global Marine Group to welcome schools to their shed at the Port of Blyth for the ‘STEMtastic’ careers event on the 26th September.

The event, arranged by RTC North, was a collaboration between industry and education in bringing science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects to life for Year 10 and 11 pupils from schools across the North East.

Osbit and Global Marine Group joined 13 other businesses to help deliver the STEM education event. Our engineering and marketing team were on hand throughout the day to provide the young people attending with opportunities to get to grips with some real-life applications of these core subjects.

Lucy, Osbit Marketing and Communications said:

“We had a fantastic day supporting Global Marine Group, Port of Blyth and Port Training Services at the STEMtastic event. It’s immensely rewarding to see the next generation of North East engineers getting excited about the subsea industry and thoroughly enjoying their tour of an Osbit plough and control cabin.

“Events like these are a hugely important part of the Osbit calendar and a great opportunity for us to bring STEM careers to life by demonstrating the wide-ranging applications of these subjects, showcasing our local engineering talent and the value of these skills to the North East and wider UK economy.”

As well as providing an introduction to the extensive range of STEM related jobs available, the event aimed to give students a better understanding of the opportunities STEM industries can offer them in terms of achieving their career aspirations.”
