Milestone cable handling project delivered On Spec, Budget and In Time
OSBIT Power has successfully supplied a bespoke cable-handling system to Technip Offshore Wind; the system is to be used in cable-installation operations at Dong Energy’s Westermost Rough Offshore Wind Farm. Installed on the support vessel, the system has been in operation since early June, following mobilisation of the deck spread at A&P Tyne.
Designed to ensure safe and efficient cable deployment and pull-in operations, OP’s modular deck spread can be readily mobilised to a range of vessels, ensuring flexibility for future projects. The system incorporates a number of safety features; this includes hydraulic locking of the quadrant at predefined positions, to ensure personnel protection during operations. Close cooperation between OP Engineers and Technip’s team was essential, as Technip worked towards a challenging mobilisation schedule.
OP’s Managing Director Tony Trapp comments:
“This is another milestone project for OSBIT Power. We have expanded significantly over the past 12 months, delivering a range of back-deck and subsea equipment to leading offshore installation contractors. The project, our first contract for a cable deployment system, has been successfully delivered against challenging schedule constraints. This demonstrates the OP team’s commitment and skill in supplying custom equipment in short lead times. We are delighted to have played our part in supporting the installation of infield cables in this important project for Technip Offshore Wind and Dong Energy.”
Since its inception in 2010, the company has expanded to a staff of 40 engineers, delivering a wide range of tailored equipment across the oil & gas and renewables sectors. The team has an extensive background in offshore engineering and delivers safe and reliable systems On Spec, to Budget and In Time – OSBIT.
